Ongoing Advice
As part and parcel of sending your child to Laidlaw Education you will benefit from our extensive experience, and receive advice on a wide range of educational issues. These typically include concerns over specific educational difficulties and questions about school, such as whether to switch schools at a particular age, or the most common request: secondary school transfer advice.
The Move to Senior School
Choosing a school for your child can be a daunting experience. Parents, faced with so much choice in west London, often ask us what should they look for and prioritise. Issues that regularly come up include academic reputation, location and accessibility, single sex or co-ed, size, facilities, pastoral care and curriculum choices.
With our extensive experience we have built up an in-depth knowledge of and strong links with the schools in this area and their entry requirements. Each year we see between 50–80 children through the 11+ process and this enables us to have a clear picture of which school might fit your child both academically and socially. In addition, we advise on entry at 4, 7+, 8+, 9+, 10+ and Common Entrance.
Contact us by email or by calling 020 8487 9517 to find out more.
Assessments
We offer a wide range of individual assessments to cater for a number of different educational needs. All the assessments take place in our centre at The National Archives and are booked via the office.
These assessments include general assessments (to determine the level of work that a child has reached in Maths and English), SEN assessments, handwriting assessments and dyscalculia screenings.
To book an assessment, email us: support@laidlaweducation.co.uk or call us on 020 8487 9517
If you require an educational psychologist assessment for a formal diagnosis (for example, of dyslexia) we can give you details of a practitioner in the area.
Free Parent Talks
In response to popular demand we now run a series of free talks for parents on how to tackle the 11+ calmly. We outline the process for both independent, grammar and state school entry and how we at Laidlaw approach it. This is open to all, irrespective of whether your child currently attends Laidlaw.
